Meet Quinn,
the Narcolepsy Service Dog

Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden sleep attacks, as well as other symptoms such as cataplexy, sleep paralysis, and hallucinations upon sleeping and waking. It is believed that Narcolepsy is caused by a lack of the chemical hypocretin in the brain. There is no cure for narcolepsy.

• Trained to notice the small changes that take place when a person with narcolepsy is about to have cataplexy + nudge them to alert to it. She will escalate the intensity of the alerts if not listened to. This helps to prevent the handler from falling or getting hurt from cataplexy.
• Waking the owner up if they sleep through the alarm clock.
• Fetch medication or other objects.
• Reminding the person to take medicine.

Quinn completed over 1000 hours of training by the time she was 2 years old. She actively continues to learn new skills and does training at least once per week to this day.

Yes! Quinn has flown on 52 individual flights as of March 1st 2025. She sits in the foot space of her handler’s feet. You’d be surprised how small such a big dog can get!

Quinn currently weighs 125lbs. She was 24lbs when she arrived at our house at 8 weeks old. She gained 1/3 a pound every day until she was over 100lbs. Great Danes grow faster than weeds!

Quinn eats 3lbs of raw food each day. Quinn ate 5-6lbs a day when she was at her peak of growth. Too bad they don’t let Great Danes do the 72oz Steak Challenge at Lone Star Texas Ranch, she could have eaten for free.
