This is not the photo I wanted to capture.
It was time to take Quinn’s 11 months old photo.
The one where I pick her up to show how big she is.
She is REALLY big!!
When she was only inches off the ground I started to laugh over how ridiculous it was that I was even trying to take a photo at her current size.
Quinn sprung into action immediately!
And by sprung, I mean out of my arms… onto the ground… putting her mouth on my forearm… and pulled me to the ground.
It wasn’t the first time she has done this.
In fact, we have been working with her for the last 9 months with the hope this would happen as often as possible.
I have narcolepsy which means strong emotions, particularly laughter, causes a temporary muscle paralysis called cataplexy.
In short, if I laugh hard I will fall on the floor.
Dramatic, right?
Quinn has been learning to detect cataplexy from watching my now retired service dog Maximus doing it.
Max makes me sit down before I fall down to keep me safe.
Quinn has learned to do the same.
This isn’t the photo I planned to take.
But it’s so much better.
